Will running make me gain weight (muscle) and is this a good workout?
I am still a beginner so i been walking and running for an hour 5x a week. Want to lose 60 pounds. I am overweight. Will i be able to lose weight? or will i be gaining muscle?
I will have a healthy balance diet.
Losing weight comes down to consuming fewer calories than you are burning. So this exercise you are doing will help you lose weight IF you really watch what you eat. It is too easy to tell yourself you can have a little bit more since you’ve had that exercise. But your workout is good, because the longer you workout at a moderate intensity, the more the body learns to burn fat. Keep it over 40 minutes and stretch it as long as you can to maximize the effect. Finally, you will gain muscle, but it will look a whole lot better that what it is replacing. Remember that muscle weighs more than fat, so you may not be losing as much weight as you want, but as I just said, you’ll like the look more. This is a long term program you are striking out on, so keep at it and good luck!
